3 weeknight recipe lifesavers


Getting dinner on the table after work can be a terrible chore. Throw in picky eaters (aka your dear children), and it’s a recipe for a stressful evening.

We want to help you get a quick, delicious, healthy dinner on the table. Try these weeknight warriors and your family will lick their plates clean!

1. Filipino Adobo Chicken
Skinnytaste is hands-down our favourite health food site. This recipe simmers chicken in an addicting mix of vinegar and soy sauce. Set the chicken to marinate the night before so that dinner is a snap the next day. You and the kids both will enjoy this simple, ethnic inspired dish. Serve with instant rice and frozen snap peas.

2. Cheeseburger Pie
This recipe translates everything we love about cheeseburgers into a family friendly casserole. You can even make this the day before if you want dinner to be even easier when you get home.


  • 1 package crescent rolls
  • 1 lb ground beef (or turkey)
  • 1/2 small onion, diced
  • 1 tsp dried italian seasoning (or 1/2 tsp dried oregano & 1/4 tsp dried basil)
  • 1 tsp kosher salt
  • 1/4 tsp ground black pepper
  • 6 oz can tomato paste
  • 8 oz mozzarella cheese

Heat oven to 400°. Brown meat and onion together. Drain oil. Put back in pan over low heat. Add salt/pepper/spices and tomato paste. Mix well. Press crescent rolls to form crust in pie plate. Add mixture on top of crust and top with cheese. Bake for 15 to 20 minutes. Serve with salad if desired.

3. Pasta with sauce
Comfort food at its finest! Make your life easier by choosing Barilla Pronto Pasta, which cooks in one pan – no need to wait for water to boil, or to drain! Once the pasta is cooked, add your favourite jarred sauce, and slices of Al Fresco Chicken Sausage, which is precooked and comes in lots of delicious flavours. Add dollops of part-skim ricotta, sprinkle with mozzarella, and finish in the oven for a few minutes until it’s nice and bubbly. If you’re feeling ambitious, garnish with fresh basil! With this one, you’ve got a crowd-pleaser on the table in under 20 minutes.
